🔐 Introducing TOTP Support in CroVault
April 20, 2025
Secure Your 2FA Secrets On-Chain
We’re excited to announce a powerful new upgrade to CroVault: support for TOTP (Time-Based One-Time Passwords)! You can now store your 2FA keys securely and privately—right inside your encrypted blockchain vault.

What is TOTP?
TOTP is the most widely used method for two-factor authentication (2FA). Services like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and Authy rely on TOTP keys to generate time-based 6-digit codes that verify your identity.
Now, with CroVault, you can store those sensitive keys directly on-chain, encrypted using your own password and wallet signature.
🧱 Why Store TOTP in CroVault?
✅ Bulletproof Backup
Lose your phone? As long as you remember your CroVault password and still own your wallet, you can recover your TOTP secrets instantly.
🔒 Privacy-First
Your data is encrypted before it ever touches the blockchain. Not even we can see your keys.
💡 All-in-One Vault
Store your credentials, notes, wallet addresses, and now—your 2FA keys. Everything in one decentralized, non-custodial vault.
🛠️ What You Can Do
Each TOTP entry includes:
- Name – Describe the account (e.g., “Binance”, “ProtonMail”).
- Key – The base32-encoded TOTP secret.
- Algorithm – Choose between SHA1, SHA256, or SHA512.
- Interval – The time window in seconds (usually 30).
The interface lets you:
- Add and batch-save new TOTP keys
- Edit or delete existing ones
- Expand entries to view or manage them
- Export raw decrypted TOTP keys when needed (e.g., to import into your authenticator app)
🚀 Try It Now
Jump into CroVault and connect your wallet to get started. No logins. No KYC. Just your vault, your password, your data—fully yours.
